Now here are some words that Namrata shared about her work, her history, process, and life…

What is your background? How has you life and your past affected your art today?

MY NAME IS NAMRATA DEY. I AM BASICALLY AN OIL PAINTER AND A FASHION ILLUSTRATOR. I HAD A KEEN INTEREST IN ART FOR LONG TIME THAT PERSUADED ME TO STUDY FASHION AND GAIN MORE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE TECHNICALITIES. I AM HAPPY TO LIVE MY DREAM THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

What do you feel you are saying with your work?

I FEEL MY ARTWORKS ARE ABOUT POSITIVITY FOR WOMEN. MOST OF THEM ARE PORTRAITS AND IT DEPICTS CONFIDENCE AMONG DIFFERENT CULTURE AND RACE, COLOUR.

What or who are your biggest influences?

MANY PEOPLE OR ARTISTS ARE INFLUENCED BY THE OLD MASTERS BUT I WANTED TO CREATE SOMETHING OF MY OWN like (my own style), SO MY INFLUENCES ARE BASICALLY DAILY FACES OF WOMEN AND TRY TO FIND POSITIVITY IN THOSE EYES.

What Projects are you working on now?
BASICALLY, I AM A BEGINNER NOW., SO I GOT FEW COMMISSIONS PIECES AND ALSO GOT TO SELL MY PAINTINGS WHICH I MADE EARLIER.
What are your favorite mediums?
MY FAVOURITE MEDIUM IS OBVIOUSLY OIL BUT FOR THE LOVE OF FASHION ILLUSTRATION I PREFER PHOTOINK COLOURS AND PENCIL SKETCHES.

What’s the most indispensable item in your studio?

THE MOST INDISPENSABLE ITEM IN MY STUDIO IS PEACE. HELPS ME TO CREATE GOOD ARTWORK.

Where are you finding ideas for your work these days?
The INTERNET IS THE BEST SOLUTION THESE DAYS BUT I ALSO DO PREFER MY EYES TO FIND ARTWORK OUTSIDE THE INTERNET WORLD.
Do you collect anything?

I DO LIKE COLLECTING BRUSHES A LOT.

What work of art do you wish you owned?
WELL I AM NOT AT ALL GOOD IN CRAFTS SO I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ANTIQUE CRAFTWORKS AND ANTIQUE ARTWORKS (Like miniature paintings from rajasthan, india)
Who’s your favorite living artist?

THERE’S NOT ANY ONE PERSON THERE ARE NUMEROUS. THOSE ARTISTS WHO DO FABULOUS WORK BUT ARE NOT PAID ENOUGH.

Who’s your favorite artist in History?

I’M A BIG FAN OF ANCIENT MONUMENTS AND THOSE WHO MADE GREAT ARTWORKS OF THOSE TIME.

What are your hobbies?

MY HOBBIES ARE OBVIOUSLY PAINTING, AND I LOVE TRAVELLING.

How do you work? What is your Process?
I CLICK NUMEROUS PICTURES OR SEARCH FOR THOSE PICTURES WHERE I CAN FIND POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND THEN DRAW THEM.

What role does the artist have in society?

AN ARTIST’S ROLE IN SOCIETY IS TO SHOW THE TRUTH TO THE WORLD.

How has your practice change over time?

WELL, IT TOOK ME MORE TIME IN THE BEGINNING AND IT DIDN’T COME OUT WELL, AS I WOULD IMAGINE IN MY HEAD, BUT NOW IT TAKES LESS TIME AND I AM ABLE TO MAKE IT AS I IMAGINE IT.
What art do you most identify with?

MOST OF the PORTRAITS AND REALISTIC ARTWORK.

What’s your favourite work of art?
THESE TWO ARE MY FAVOURITE PIECES I’VE DONE

Why art?
IT TEACHES ME PATIENCE AND HELPS ME SMOOTHEN MY BAD TEMPER BY CREATING ART.
Favourite or most inspirational place?
PLACES WHERE TOURISTS VISIT BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT EXPRESSIONS OF THERE FACE.
